London Tournament 2008 Rules Womens Division

International Federation of Women’s Lacrosse Association Rules for all games with modifications as detailed below.

Round Robin Phase with all teams playing each other followed by play-off games for 1st – 6th placings according to final positions after the Round Robin

Teams will gain 5 points for a win, 3 points for a draw and 1 point for a loss where they have scored 50% or more of their opponents score (eg loss 2-4 = 1 point)

In the event of a tie on points then the goal differential formulae will be applied - see IFWLA Official rules book page 104 rule 24 E

All games 2 x 15 minute halves, 5 minutes for half time

No Time-outs, Running Clock through out all games

Any player who receives one straight red or two combination yellow/red cards for personal fouls will be suspended from the next match within the tournament.

Final game (1st v 2nd) one Time-out allowed per team

In the event of a tie in the final game (1st v 2nd) then the winner will be decided by sudden victory (non stop clock) overtime of not more than 6 minutes. If the winning goal has not been scored in the first 3 minute period, then players will change ends with no delay for coaching and play will continue for another 3 minutes. The team scoring the first goal wins. Play will continue until a goal is scored – see IFWLA Official rules book page 105 rule 24 F 5 & 6

All sticks must conform to the IFWLA regulations. There will be a stick and equipment check before the first game that each team plays on both days and before the final.

Each team will provide a list of players before the start of the Tournament Players must not switch teams during the Tournament, with the sole exception in the event of injury to a goalkeeper and agreed with the Team Coaches and the Tournament Director. Any team fielding an ineligible player will forfeit the game on the first occasion and be expelled from the Tournament on the second occasion.

Please ensure your team is ready to go and when finishing a game please clear the bench area quickly.

All matches will be played on grass and there is a grass warm up area

What - Teams and spectators can expect an event like no other with a Festival atmosphere and elite level Lacrosse.

SEMLA is a non-profit volunteer organisation that administers and organises Men’s Lacrosse in the South of England.

Any profit generated from the London Tournament will be utilised for the development of youth lacrosse in the South of England.
